David Ashby is a seasoned investment professional and educator with a passion for helping others navigate the complexities of personal finance. He began his career as an accountant in north Arkansas and later transitioned to academia as a professor at Southern Arkansas University (SAU), where he launched the state’s first financial planning curriculum, laying the foundation for future generations of retirement planners.
David’s commitment to financial education extends beyond the classroom. He remains an active voice in the field, leading continuing education seminars and authoring several financial articles, many of which are featured on the Mustard Seed website blog.
In 2002, David founded Mustard Seed Wealth Management and has since welcomed fellow SAU alumni to the team. The firm remains deeply connected to SAU, participating in the summer internship program, with two of its current partners having started as student interns.
As both a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), David brings a strong foundation of expertise to provide comprehensive financial advice to clients.
David resides in Hot Springs, where he splits his time between the office and collaborating with fellow advisors. When he's not attending games or recitals for his grandchildren, he enjoys traveling, reading, and leading his small Sunday School class. Forever a teacher at heart, David continues to share his knowledge and passion for finance with others.
